FREE SEED MINI KIT DISTRIBUTION: UP government will spend Rs 236 crore on this scheme. Mini kits of high-quality seeds of pulses and oilseeds crops are being given to the farmers for free. This will help the farmers to get better production at low cost.

CARBON CREDIT TRADING SCHEME TO INCREASE FARMERS’ INCOME: PM Narendra Modi has resolved to make India a country with net zero carbon emissions by 2070. In this sequence, more than 36 crore saplings were planted in the state this year under the leadership of CM Yogi Adityanath.

EMPHASIS ON COARSE GRAINS: The plan of the Modi government at the Centre to promote coarse grains (Sri Anna) has taken a big shape in UP. The Yogi government has taken many important decisions to increase the production of Sri Anna. The state government plans to make free coarse grain seeds available to farmers by spending Rs 187 crore in the National Revival Program by 2027. During this time, seeds will be distributed to 2.5 lakh farmers. For this, 50% subsidy is also being given for millets processing units.

SEED PRODUCTION THROUGH FPO: 72,500 farmers will be taught Uriko every year as a better way of farming coarse grains. The state government is providing seed money to a total of 180 farmer producer organizations at the rate of Rs 4 lakh per FPO from 2023-24 to 2026-27. Rs 7.20 crore will be spent on this programme in four years.

PM KISAN SAMMAN NIDHI YOJANA: This amount of Samman Nidhi is being sent to the account of more than 2.25 crore farmers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM- Kisan), eligible farmer families are given assistance of Rs 6,000 every year. A total of Rs 79,478.20 cr has been paid to the farmers of UP in the 18 instalments issued so far.

MATRUBHUMI YOJANA: Matrubhumi Yojana has been started to ensure proper development of gram panchayats. Under this scheme, if a person wants to develop his village, then he can contribute to it by giving 60% of the amount for development. The remaining 40% will be spent by state government. Under this scheme, any person can get the work of construction of community centre, open live sports complex, pond beautification, cremation ground, CCTV surveillance system, bus stand, tin shed, marriage hall, digital library and pasture etc., done in his village assembly.

PM KUSUM YOJANA: The government is giving solar pumps to the farmers on subsidy under PM Kusum Yojana. Under this scheme, 60% of the total cost is given by the central/state government as subsidy. Farmers have to pay only 40% of the cost. So far, solar pumps have been distributed to 75,312 farmers in the state.

UP-AGREES YOJANA: With the support of World Bank, the state government has approved the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprises Ecosystem Strengthening (UP-AGREES) project to change the picture of agriculture and allied sector. The UP-AGREES project worth Rs 4,000 crore will be operated in 28 districts of eight divisions of Bundelkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh, which are considered relatively backward. Means of employment will be created at the local level, which will also increase the income of farmers. Under this, 500 farmers will also be sent abroad to see the best agricultural technology.

PROMOTING FARMING WITH DRONE TECHNOLOGY: Drones are currently being used for various agricultural tasks including spraying of pesticides, fertilizers and agricultural nutrients, although at a limited level. The state government had announced to give 40% subsidy to farmers’ self-help groups on the use of drones for agricultural purposes. A certificate from Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture and Technology Department of Kanpur will be mandatory for farming with drones in UP.

PANDIT DEENDAYAL UPADHYAYA KISAN SAMRIDHI YOJANA: The Yogi government is running the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Kisan Samridhi Yojana to develop 2,19,250 lakh hectares of ravine and barren land in 74 districts of UP. By spending Rs 602.68 crore on this scheme by 2027, barren land will be made cultivable.

KHET TALAB YOJANA: Under this scheme, farmers can now dig small and medium size ponds in their fields. For this, 50% subsidy is being provided by government. This can be used for fish farming or irrigation. Under the ambitious Khet Talab Yojana of the state government, a target of 8,499 ponds has been set for the financial year 2024-25.

CHIEF MINISTER FARMER ACCIDENT WELFARE SCHEME: Assistance of up to Rs 5 lakh is being provided to the farmer and his family under the Chief Minister Farmer Accident Welfare Scheme. Under the scheme, an amount of Rs 650 crore was allocated in 2022-23. 15251 people benefited from this. Similarly, the government released an amount of Rs 750 crore for the scheme in 2023-24, out of which more than Rs 706 crore has been allocated to the District Magistrates.

100% POWER SUBSIDY TO PRIVATE TUBE WELLS: The Uttar Pradesh govt is providing 100% subsidy on power bills for use of private tubewells for agricultural purposes. The Yogi government has made a provision of Rs 1,800 crore for this scheme in the budget of 2024-25. It will benefit around 1.5 crore farmers and is applicable to the existing 14.80 lakh private tube wells in the state. To avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers have to register themselves by visiting the website of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation uppcl.org.

FREE BORING SCHEME: The government is giving a subsidy of Rs 4,500 to Rs 10,000 for getting boring done for irrigation to the farmers. Under this scheme, small farmers get Rs 4,500, marginal farmers get Rs 6,000 and farmers belonging to SC/ST category get Rs 10,000. The state government has set a target of setting up 30,000 tube wells.

UTTAR PRADESH AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT SUBSIDY SCHEME: Marginal and economically weaker section farmers are being given up to 50% subsidy on the purchase of agricultural equipment. Under the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme, farmers can book agricultural equipment with a subsidy ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh by paying a booking fee of Rs 2,500 and for equipment with a subsidy exceeding Rs 1 lakh, the booking amount is Rs 5,000.
